UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says that Chinese military incursions near Taiwan do nothing to promote cross-strait peace. That came Wednesday while Johnson was answering questions from lawmakers in the House of Commons.
Johnson says that peaceful and constructive cross-strait dialogue is necessary.
In response, Taiwan’s foreign ministry has noted the close state of Taiwan’s ties with the UK. It also says that the UK supports Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations, is concerned about the situation in the Taiwan Strait, and calls for the peaceful resolution of cross-strait differences.
The ministry says that Taiwan will continue working with nations including the UK to make democracy more resilient worldwide. It says they will support democratic development, and preserve peace, stability, prosperity, and sustainable development in both the Taiwan Strait region and the wider Indo-Pacific.
