Taiwan reported 27 new local cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Health authorities also reported 44 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan.
There were no deaths reported.
Four of the new local cases are part of a cluster of infections at the Port of Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan. All four cases tested positive while in quarantine, so there is little risk of them infecting others.
Health officials also reported one more local case at the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital in New Taipei City.
A further four people have tested positive in a cluster centered around a hotel in Jiaoxi Township in Yilan County.
Authorities also reported six more local cases in the Greater Taipei area linked to a cluster involving a local real estate agent.
Another six local cases are linked to a large cluster centered around a bank and a steakhouse in Taoyuan City. Health authorities say they are unsure of the precise source for three of the new cases.
Six more cases were found in Taoyuan City. One dined at the same restaurant as a previously confirmed case, and the remaining five are linked to an outbreak centering on a kindergarten and another restaurant.
Two workers at Askey Computer Corp. in Taoyuan City also tested positive for COVID-19. Both were already in quarantine.
Taiwan also recorded 44 imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Fourteen tested positive on arrival at the airport, while another 30 tested positive in quarantine. They include eight travelers each from the United States and the Philippines; five from China; three from Indonesia; two each from Japan, Sweden and Vietnam; and one each from Bangladesh, Turkey, the Netherlands, the UK, Austria and Denmark.
