COVID-19 (02/01): Taiwan reports 16 local, 44 imported cases

Taiwan reported 16 new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. Health authorities also reported 44 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. 

There were no deaths reported.

Of the 16 new local cases announced on Tuesday, seven were men and nine were women, all of them aged between under 5 to 60 years old. Nine of the cases were identified in Kaohsiung, while the remaining seven in Taoyuan.
 
Taiwan also recorded 44 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, which includes 33 men and 11 women, all of them aged between under 5 to 50 years old. Twenty cases were found among travelers arriving from Malaysia, six from the US, three from the UK, two from Japan, and one each from Poland, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brazil, India, Panama, Sweden, and France. Travel histories of the remaining five are under investigation. All of the travelers arrived in Taiwan between January 17 and 31.  

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Taiwan has reported a total of 18,850 cases of COVID-19. That includes 3,715 imported cases and 15,081 domestic cases. Taiwan has also reported a total of 851 deaths from COVID-19.
