Taiwan reported 25 new local cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Health authorities also reported 46 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no deaths reported.
Of the 25 new local cases announced on Friday, 14 were men and 11 were women. The youngest was under the age of 5, while the eldest was in their 70s. Of the confirmed cases, 11 tested positive while in quarantine.
Taiwan also recorded 46 imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday. They include 26 men and 20 women. Of the imported cases, 23 tested positive upon arrival in Taiwan, while another 23 tested positive during quarantine.
The imported cases arrived in Taiwan between January 15 and February 4. They include arrivals from the United States, the Philippines, Australia, the Netherlands, India, Peru, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Nigeria, Canada, Israel, Hong Kong and China. The country of origin for 17 of the imported cases is still being investigated.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Taiwan has reported a total of 19,029 cases of COVID-19. That includes 3,832 imported cases and 15,143 domestic cases. Taiwan has also reported a total of 851 deaths from COVID-19.
