Taiwan reported two new local cases of COVID-19 on Monday. Health authorities also reported 47 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan.
There were no deaths reported.
Of the two new local cases announced on Monday, one was male and one female. Both tested positive while in quarantine. One of the cases was found in Kaohsiung and connected to the Kaohsiung port cluster, while the other is a five-year-old girl from New Taipei City who was infected with COVID-19 in kindergarten.
Taiwan also recorded 47 imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday. They include 18 travelers from the US, two from Malaysia, and one each from Vietnam, South Africa, the Netherlands, Luxemburg, and the Philippines. Authorities are still investigating the travel histories of the remaining 22 confirmed cases.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Taiwan has reported a total of 19,192 cases of COVID-19. That includes 3,936 imported cases and 15,202 domestic cases. Taiwan has also reported a total of 851 deaths from COVID-19.
