Taiwan reported 10 new local cases, 44 imported cases and zero COVID-related deaths on Wednesday.
Five of the new local cases tested positive while in quarantine.
As for the five people who tested positive for COVID-19 outside of quarantine, four of them are part of a cluster in Kaohsiung City. Health authorities say they do not know the source of the cluster infection, and they have not discovered any link to an earlier cluster centered around the Kaohsiung City port.
Authorities have linked the final local case to three separate clusters in northern Taiwan.
Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says it does not look like there will be a major outbreak of COVID-19 with the current case number trends. However, he says Taiwan still needs to be vigilant about preventing the spread of the virus.
Of the imported cases, 25 tested positive at the airport after landing in Taiwan.
Health minister Chen Shih-chung says that the percentage of people testing positive after arriving in Taiwan is falling. Right now, about 3% of arriving travelers test positive at the airport.
The imported cases came from the United States, Austria, the UAE, the Netherlands, Germany, Vietnam, France, Cambodia, Israel, South Africa, Australia, Canada, Spain, Singapore, Greece, Malaysia and India.
