President Tsai Ing-wen has hailed the winners of a prestigious Taiwanese tech award for their contributions to Taiwan’s digital sector. The president hosted the winners and organizers of the Outstanding ICT Elite Award at the Presidential Office on Thursday.
Tsai has thanked the award winners for helping Taiwan to occupy an important place in global industrial supply chains. She says their work is continuing to create new possibilities in the field of digital applications.
Tsai says the award winners’ work has a lot in common with the government’s own focus on six core strategic industries. Those include the semiconductor industry, cloud computing, big data and precision medicine.
The president says the government is on track to open a dedicated ministry of digital development this year to aid Taiwan’s digital transition. Tsai says the government will continue investing in digital industries to ensure Taiwan retains its place as a world leader in the field.
