COVID-19 (02/10): Taiwan reports 37 local, 46 imported cases
Taiwan's COVID-19 case numbers for February 10, 2022.

Taiwan reported 37 new local cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. Health authorities also reported 46 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan.

There were no deaths reported.

Fifteen of the new local cases are part of a cluster centered around a technology manufacturer in New Taipei City. Authorities discovered the cases during mass testing after one company employee tested positive for COVID-19. It is unclear how the employee was infected.

Another six cases have formed a cluster with an unknown source of infection. The six people come from New Taipei City, Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County, as well as having travel history in Miaoli. Health authorities say the wide range of locations the people visited will make it harder to carry out effective contact tracing.

Finally, authorities reported a cluster of four cases in Kaohsiung City, along with an isolated case with no clear infection source in New Taipei City.

The remaining 11 people tested positive while in quarantine.

Taiwan also recorded 46 imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Fifteen of them tested positive upon arrival in Taiwan, while the remaining 31 tested positive in quarantine. They include five travelers from the Philippines; two travelers from Brazil; and one traveler each from Cambodia, Vietnam, Switzerland, France, the United Arab Emirates, China, Indonesia, Sweden, Singapore, Malaysia and Spain. Authorities are still determining the travel history of 16 other travelers.
