COVID-19 (02/12): Taiwan reports 11 local, 49 imported cases

Taiwan reported 11 new local cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. Health authorities also reported 49 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no deaths reported.

Of the 11 new local cases announced on Saturday, four were men and seven were women. Five cases reported symptoms between February 8 and 11, and at least another five were asymptomatic. Six of the cases were breakthrough cases, as they had already received two doses of either Moderna, BioNTech, or AstraZeneca vaccines.

As for the source of the 11 local cases announced on Saturday, a specific source of transmission is known for all cases. Seven are connected to the same cluster in Kaohsiung, and one is connected to the Taoyuan airport cluster.


Taiwan also recorded 49 imported cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. They include travelers from the US, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Indonesia, Switzerland, Myanmar, China, and Lithuania. The travel history of 18 cases is still under investigation.
