Taiwan’s Premier Su Tseng-chang says Taiwan is preparing to open borders to foreign business travelers. That statement came during a speech at a machine tool show on Monday.
Su says that it has already been two weeks since the end of the Lunar New Year vacation and the domestic pandemic situation seems stable. That’s why authorities decided on Monday to begin preparations for allowing foreign business travelers to enter Taiwan. Su did not give any additional details or timelines for the policy change.
Su delivered the statement at a joint trade show, combining two exhibitions previously held separately: the Taipei International Machine Tool Show and Taiwan International Machine Tool Show. The opening ceremony for the event was held on Monday. It is expected to be the largest trade show held in Taiwan since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The list of distinguished guests at the opening ceremony also included President Tsai Ing-wen and Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua.
