Taiwan experienced its first cold snap this winter over the weekend, with low temperatures and heavy rain across the country. Health officials are urging people to take the temperature drop seriously and wrap up warm.
A bowl of hot soup sounds like the perfect way to stay warm on a cold day, but it’s hardly enough to ward off the chills. Nurse Tan Dun-tzu says that hearty meals like this could be downright fatal on a cold day. She says that some people will head outside after a hot meal indoors, thinking they can brave the cold, but they’ll keel over by the time they make it home.
Tan urges people to exercise caution now that a cold snap has hit Taiwan. She emphasizes the importance of staying warm. Bundle up the neck, head, feet, and hands. And, if your shoes or socks get wet, change out of them as soon as possible. And, since the current cold front has brought with it heavy rain, Tan says that waterproof shoes are also very important.
With another cold front slated to hit Taiwan later this week, there’s no better time to put Tan’s tips into practice.
