Taiwan reported five new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. Health authorities also reported 39 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no deaths reported.
Premier Su Tseng-chang also said on Tuesday that Taiwan will gradually move towards opening the country, starting with allowing businesspersons to enter Taiwan. At a meeting on pandemic measures, he told health officials to consider people's livelihood and help people return to their normal lives.
All five domestic cases tested positive in quarantine. They were already in quarantine when they tested positive due to their connection to two clusters, one linked to an interior designer in New Taipei and the other to a family in Kaohsiung.
Taiwan also recorded 39 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. They include travelers from the US, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Vietnam, the Netherlands, Thailand, Cambodia, Nigeria, Turkey, Brazil, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Germany, Japan, Korea, the UK, and Canada. The travel origins of four imported cases are still under investigation.
