COVID-19 (02/24): Taiwan reports 7 local, 73 imported cases
Taiwan's COVID-19 case numbers for February 24, 2022.

Taiwan reported seven new local cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. Health authorities also reported 73 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan.

There were no deaths reported.

Two of the new local cases are part of a cluster in northern Taiwan centered around a real estate agency. Health authorities say they dined at a restaurant at the same time as other people who were later confirmed to have COVID-19.

Another local case is a medical worker at a quarantine hotel in Taipei City. Authorities say they have identified potential contacts at the hospital that employs the medical worker. Almost 300 hundred contacts have tested negative already and 19 people have gone into quarantine.

The remaining four local cases all tested positive while in isolation, so health authorities say there is little chance they have infected others.

Taiwan also recorded 73 imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. Forty-five of them tested positive on arrival in Taiwan, while another 28 tested positive in quarantine. They include travelers from the United States, France and Vietnam, among others.
