After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an international exhibition of bicycles and bike parts is scheduled to kick off in Taipei.
The 2022 Taipei Cycle show will kick off on March 9. The exhibit this year will have over 2,000 booths from 638 domestic and international exhibitors of bicycles and bike parts taking part. The event will be held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, although visitors will also be able to attend online.
One of the organizers of the event is the Taiwan External Trade Development Council. The council’s president, Leonor Lin, says that Taiwan’s bicycle industry has not been affected by COVID-19. Instead, she says its exports have grown. Lin says last year, the export value of bikes and electric bicycles exceeded US$1.3 billion, with unit prices continuing to reach new highs.
Taiwan is set to allow business travelers into the country starting March 7. Lin says that will be a little too late to have a big impact on visitor numbers. But as for events in April and May, Lin says she expects buyers to come in from all over the world.
