The education ministry says that out of 12 Taiwanese students studying in Ukraine, three have already returned to Taiwan, six are in Poland, and three are still in Ukraine. The ministry gave this update on Monday, as Ukraine continues to resist an invasion by Russian forces.

The ministry says that of the three Taiwanese students still in Ukraine, one is on the way to Slovakia, while the other two remain in the south and east of Ukraine. The ministry says that it is working to provide help to these remaining students.

The ministry says that four of the students who traveled to Poland are planning on flying back to Taiwan soon. The students arrived in Poland on Saturday, after a 46-hour bus ride.

One of the students, going by the name Simon, shared his experience on social media, saying that it was a restless journey. He says that soldiers boarded the bus to check the students’ official documents as they neared the Polish border. The student says that waiting for processing at the border created a massive traffic buildup, and it took the bus 10 hours just to move one kilometer.

The student says he wants to thank Taiwan’s diplomatic mission for helping them arrive safely in Warsaw.
