At least ten Taiwan businesses are donating a total of NT$10 million (US$360,000) to Ukrainian refugees. That was the word from Premier Su Tseng-chang at the legislature on Tuesday.
Those businesses include companies working in Taiwan’s semiconductor, electronics and biotech industries.
The government itself is also providing support. On Monday night, 27 tons of medical supplies from Taiwan arrived in Ukraine.
Premier Su says that Taiwan wants to let Ukrainians know that people in Taiwan want to help. He says he wants these refugees to know people in Taiwan care.
The premier also says Taiwan was glad to donate masks to countries in need during the pandemic. He said this pattern of countries helping each other in times of need is a positive cycle.
The government says it will work with local organizations to set up an official account for people who want to donate to Ukrainian refugees. Su also is reminding the public to wait for the announcement of the account details to avoid being scammed.
