The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) says it’s committed to collaborating with Taiwan in the field of international language education. That came in a press release AIT published on Wednesday. AIT is the US’ de facto embassy in Taiwan in the absence of formal diplomatic relations.
The press release said that AIT and Taiwan’s foreign ministry held a high-level dialogue on education on Tuesday. The talks are a part of the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative, which was adopted in 2020. AIT said that both sides seek to deepen education ties, particularly in the area of English and Chinese language education.
Mandarin Chinese is one of Taiwan’s official languages.
According to the press release, Tuesday’s talks saw both sides review the achievements and efforts made under the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative to date and exchanged ideas for future collaboration.
