People of all nationalities are voicing their concern for the Russia-Ukraine war in their own way — whether through song, art, or video. Two friends, Ukrainian YouTuber Tatiana and Russian model Sasha, uploaded a video to YouTube addressing the conflict between their two countries, and their thoughts on the ongoing war in Ukraine.
"Hi, I’m Tatiana and I’m Ukrainian. I’m Sasha, and I’m Russian. Today we’re going to talk about a very sensitive issue. Everyone knows our two countries are at war. " People in both countries oppose this war.
"People ask me about the relationship between Ukrainian and Russian people. There’s no problem at all. The problem is between our governments," says Tatiana. "People in many Russian cities say they don’t want this war," says Sasha.
Tatiana and Sasha are heartbroken about the Russian-Ukraine war. They’re close friends living in Taiwan and both say they have friends in each others’ countries.
The war is on the minds of many in Taiwan and some are turning to songs such as John Lennon’s classic Imagine for comfort. Imagine if we all could live in peace. There are also Taiwanese songs like Jay Chou’s Wounds of War which describe the fear war instills in children.
The comment section of Chou’s song is filled with messages of support for Ukraine like: “May God protect Ukraine” and “Pray for Ukraine.”
Taiwanese band Mayday’s hit song Goodbye Earthlings — which describes turmoil and war — has also become a relevant way to express the angst over the Russian invasion.
Whether through words or music, people in Taiwan are showing their concern for Ukraine. At the end of the day, all they want is peace.
