Taiwan reported five new local cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. Health authorities also reported 66 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan.
There were no deaths reported.
Authorities say all of the local infections on Thursday were among people who were already in quarantine.
Health officials detected one of the local cases of COVID-19 in a man in his fifties. He was already in quarantine, because authorities had identified him as a potential contact in a cluster of cases in northern Taiwan centering on a real estate agency.
The other four local cases are part of a cluster in Taoyuan City that involved pupils at a local kindergarten.
Taiwan also recorded 66 imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. Twenty-eight of them tested positive on arrival in Taiwan, while the remaining 38 tested positive in quarantine. They include travelers from Vietnam, the Philippines, and the United States, among others. Health authorities are still verifying the travel history of 20 travelers.
