Taiwan reported eight new local cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. Health authorities also reported 72 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no new deaths.
All of the new domestic patients have been linked to recently reported cases. Three of them tested positive while in quarantine.
Six of the eight cases are breakthrough infections that involve people who had received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, while the remaining two are children aged below 12.
There were also 72 imported cases reported on Saturday, and 41 of them travelers who tested positive upon arrival in Taiwan.
Taiwan has seen 20,797 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 15,459 domestic cases. The number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths is 853.
