Taiwan reported three new local cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. Health authorities also reported 40 more imported cases and no deaths.
The three new domestic cases all received either two or three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The three domestic COVID-19 cases were connected to an employee at a Kaohsiung buffet restaurant. This cluster has had a total of nine cases to date. The employee tested positive on Friday, and her parents and older sister tested positive Saturday. Two people from New Taipei and Tainan who had traveled with the employee's parents also tested positive on Saturday. On Sunday, two relatives of the Tainan resident tested positive for COVID-19.
The other domestic case reported Sunday was an employee at a Taiwanese restaurant. The parents and sister of the buffet restaurant employee dined at this Taiwanese restaurant on March 1.
So far, the restaurant’s 124 other employees and 325 customers that the employee had contact with all have tested negative, while the test results of another 43 customers are still being processed.
Taiwan has 20,840 COVID-19 cases, including 15,462 domestically transmitted infections. The number of fatalities is 853.
