President Tsai Ing-wen says Taiwan’s top executives and managers are serving as the cornerstone of Taiwan’s economic development. At a ceremony celebrating the achievements of Taiwan’s managerial talent, the president thanked award winners for helping the economy run smoothly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tsai says the government is working hard to ensure Taiwan’s economy keeps up with the global digital transformation. That includes plans to open a digital development ministry later this year.
Tsai says the new ministry will bring together resources from other government departments and help businesses adapt to new technologies. The government also hopes digital technology can boost industrial innovation.
Digital Minister Audrey Tang has been tapped to take the lead organizing the new ministry.
