Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says Taiwan could open its borders to all travelers starting from June. But he says that will depend on four factors.
Speaking at Monday’s COVID-19 press briefing, Chen said that Taiwan’s local and central governments need to be completely ready to respond to COVID-19 outbreaks.
Second, people in quarantine should be regularly reporting their health conditions and COVID-19 rapid test results to health authorities.
Chen says if Taiwan is going to open up its borders, enough people need to be following the rules.
Third, more elderly people need to get vaccinated, and finally, global COVID-19 case numbers should be at a steady level.
Chen says that those four parameters have to be moving in a positive direction before Taiwan can ease border restrictions.
