Taiwan’s defense minister says Ukraine’s resistance against invasion is teaching Taiwan valuable military lessons. Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng says that Ukraine’s military is taking advantage of the country’s geography to fight back against Russian forces.

Chiu says Ukraine is also making good use of so-called cognitive warfare, raising morale in the country and winning the hearts and minds of the international community. The minister says Taiwan is learning from Ukraine’s tactics to make sure Taiwan is ready if Beijing launches an attack.

So far, the defense ministry says it hasn’t seen any unusual movements by China’s military. Another Taiwanese government body says that could be because the Chinese Communist Party wants stability before its 20th National Congress later this year. At the congress, the party is expected to re-elect Xi Jinping as general secretary for a third term.
