VIDEO: Hikers built igloo with unexpected snow on Hsuehshan Mountain
Unexpected amount of snow fell on Hsuehshan Mountain recently

The weather has been warmer this week, but some hikers unexpectedly met up with a great deal of snow while climbing Hsuehshan Mountain recently.

A group of hikers from central Nantou County was pleasantly surprised to find snow covering the ground outside their tents on the third day of their five-day hiking trip. There was so much snow that they began building an igloo for the first time, while others made shaved ice out of the snow. Good thing they had sweet condensed milk with them to add to their dessert!

One of the climbers later said they didn’t expect to see snow. He said they did hear of a drop in temperature on the weather forecast but they didn’t expect to see so much snow.

It snowed continuously for five to six hours. At the end, there was almost 60 cm of snow on the ground. A road sign on the mountain nearly got buried in the snow.

It was the team’s first time climbing Hsuehshan Mountain. After the snow stopped, the sun came out and they were able to reach the top. They were glad they recorded everything on video and that they could share breathtaking sights of one of the most beautiful mountains in Taiwan.
