People in Taiwan have donated NT$585 million (US$20.5 million) to Ukrainian refugees. That’s since the official donation account opened on March 2. The public has also donated 4,000 boxes of supplies for the refugees.

The ministry said it has also sent a shipment of medical supplies and equipment to Poland to help Ukrainian refugees there.

People have donated goods including medical masks, blankets, hygiene products, diapers and crackers. The deadline for donations of goods is Friday Mar. 18.

Taiwan’s representative offices in neighboring countries of Ukraine are working with local NGOs to better understand the needs of the refugees. The ministry will continue to work with European countries on further plans for cooperation.

The ministry thanked all who’ve donated. It is also reminding the public not to send secondhand clothes and to ensure that expiration dates for all goods are valid for at least six months.
