Taiwan reported five new local cases of COVID-19 on Monday. Health authorities also reported 93 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan.
There were no deaths reported.
Four of the local cases are part of a cluster of infections among guests at a wedding in Chiayi. So far, that cluster has resulted in 10 people testing positive for COVID-19.
One of the people confirmed to have the virus on Monday visited an elementary school in Yunlin. Local authorities have shut the school until Sunday as a precautionary measure.
The other local case on Monday is linked to a cluster centering on a group of people who went traveling in southern Taiwan during a recent public holiday.
Taiwan also recorded 93 imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday. Forty-two of them tested positive on arrival in Taiwan, while the remaining 51 tested positive in quarantine. They include travelers from Vietnam, the United States, and Singapore, among others. Health authorities are still verifying the travel history of 35 travelers.
