The president of the Marshall Islands will arrive in Taiwan on Monday to begin a five-day state visit. It will be the first time President David Kabua has visited Taiwan since he came to office in 2020.
The Marshall Islands is one of 14 countries that have full diplomatic relations with Taiwan.
Taiwan’s Presidential Office says it warmly welcomes President Kabua’s visit to Taiwan. According to the office, President Tsai Ing-wen will receive the Marshallese delegation on Tuesday in an official ceremony featuring a military guard of honor.
The Presidential Office also says Tsai will award President Kabua with the Order of Brilliant Jade with Grand Cordon, Taiwan’s highest civilian order.
Presidential Office spokesperson Xavier Chang says President Tsai looks forward to using Kabua’s state visit to strengthen relations between Taiwan and the Marshall Islands.
