Taiwan reported ten new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. Health authorities also reported 79 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no deaths reported.
Six of the new local cases were connected to a cluster in Chiayi. This cluster is linked to a wedding celebration, where ten guests and six of their contacts have already tested positive for the virus. Due to this development, health authorities announced that making toasts is prohibited unless everyone is wearing a mask and maintaining a social distance.
One of the other domestic cases was a man in Tainan, who tested positive in quarantine after he was linked to a buffet restaurant cluster in Kaohsiung. The remaining three local cases are a nurse at Taipei City Hospital’s Heping Branch, and her husband and son. The source of these infections is still under investigation.
Taiwan also recorded 79 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. Twenty-six of them tested positive on arrival in Taiwan, while the remaining 53 tested positive in quarantine. They include travelers from Vietnam, Malaysia, and the US, among others. Health authorities are still verifying the travel history of 23 travelers.
