Taiwan reported 21 new local cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. Ten of the people with the virus are part of a cluster at a tech manufacturer in Shulin, New Taipei City.
In addition, another four people have tested positive in a cluster at a chemical plant in Kaohsiung. Local authorities say they have mass tested almost 6,000 people in the area, and all of the results have come back negative.
In Keelung, five more people have caught COVID-19 from dining together with people who had the virus. City officials have installed community testing sites. They urge people to come forward and get tested if they suspect they might have COVID-19.
Finally, two people tested positive for the virus in New Taipei City. Health officials say the two people had no contact with each other. Officials aren’t sure how they caught the disease.
Taiwan also recorded 82 imported cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. Thirty-five of them tested positive on arrival in Taiwan, while the remaining 47 tested positive in quarantine. They include travelers from Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, among others. Health authorities are still verifying the travel history of 30 travelers.
There were no deaths reported on Saturday.
