A Taiwanese man in his 20s is receiving oxygen in hospital as part of his treatment for COVID-19. The man is the youngest person in Taiwan this year to experience moderate symptoms of the disease.
Health authorities say the man began having breathing difficulties on March 29 and tested positive for COVID-19. The man has long-term health issues, and he had not received a third dose of a COVID vaccine.
Authorities say he is taking a small amount of supplementary oxygen and is not in intensive care. The man is also taking the antiviral medication Remdesivir.
Health authorities say the vast majority of people who have caught COVID-19 in Taiwan this year have had mild symptoms. Only one person has died: a woman in her 80s who had chronic illness.
