Taiwan reported 216 new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. Health authorities also reported 65 more imported cases among people arriving in Taiwan. There were no deaths reported.
The number of local cases is the highest so far this year. It was also the fifth consecutive day of domestic cases over a hundred, however most of the recent cases have shown mild or no symptoms. Of the 216 domestic cases, 114 had no symptoms at all. Most of the people with COVID are from northern Taiwan, with 91 people from New Taipei, 33 from Keelung, 28 from Taipei, 13 from Hsinchu County, 11 from Taoyuan, and eight from Hsinchu City.
Authorities also reported 10 each from Kaohsiung and Hualien, five from Taichung, three each from Yilan and Changhua, and one from Tainan.
Taiwan also recorded 65 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. 28 of them tested positive on arrival in Taiwan, while the remaining 37 tested positive during quarantine. They include travelers coming from Indonesia, United States and Vietnam, among others.
