Peonies in full bloom in Nantou County

The four-day weekend which celebrated Children’s Day and Tombsweeping Day started out dreary but became sunny. People in central Taiwan flocked to see peonies in full bloom.

People couldn’t stop taking pictures of the colorful flowers in bloom in central Taiwan. In Taichung, visitors enjoy taking selfies or group photos with acres of wisteria, bluebonnets, or lilies. In Nantou, peonies are in full bloom.

It's the peak season for peony blossoms until the end of April. More than 3,000 admirers of the flower showed up at Nantou’s Shanlin River on the long weekend.

Another attraction in Nantou County also saw a lot of visitors due to the nice weather. Parents brought their little ones to one of the famous amusement parks on Children’s Day on Monday. Many more went there the following day after paying respects to their ancestors on Tomb Sweeping Day.

It’s also the migration season for purple crow butterflies. People enjoy watching swarms of butterflies and taking pictures with them as they migrate north from the area surrounding one of the national highways in Taiwan.
