The leader of Taiwan’s largest opposition party, the Kuomintang, will visit the United States at the end of May. The party says Eric Chu plans to meet with US officials and open the Kuomintang’s new office in Washington during a tour with five stops in major cities.

According to the Kuomintang, Chu will also give a speech outlining the party’s views on the United States, China and Taiwan-China relations.

The party’s director of international affairs, Alexander Huang, says Chu’s visit aims to show that the Kuomintang has not left Washington behind, as some people say.

Chu will stop off in Boston, Washington, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles during a tour that should last for more than a week.
