Taiwan’s defense ministry released a civil defense handbook on Tuesday. The handbook instructs the public on how to take refuge and be better prepared in the event of national emergencies, including a military conflict.
The defense ministry began preparing the handbook last year, in response to heightened concerns about the possibility of a military conflict with China.
The Chinese-language handbook is 28 pages and contains QR codes to help people access directions for where to go and what to do in a national emergency.
The booklet describes safety measures and survival skills in the event of major disasters such as an air raid, building collapse, fire, power outage and water shortage.
There are also instructions for combat readiness and details on the mobilization of reservists if war should break out.
