Taiwan reported 2,386 new local cases and 95 imported cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. There were no deaths reported.
Wednesday's domestic infections set another single-day record. The patients are aged 5 to over 90 and caught COVID-19 between March 19 and April 20.
Eight patients have developed moderate symptoms, while another one has developed severe symptoms. Of the eight moderate infections, one patient is unvaccinated, three have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, one has received two doses, and the other three have received three doses. Wednesday’s severe COVID case is a woman in her 70s. She received one vaccine shot.
In Taiwan, 84% of people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, 79% have received two doses, and 56% have received three doses.

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung said Taiwan could begin seeing 10,000 daily local cases by the end of the month.
To date, Taiwan has seen 40,186 cases of COVID-19, which include 30,147 local cases and 856 deaths.
