Taiwan’s government donated US$250,000 to assist Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia’s capital Bratislava. Taiwan’s Representative to Slovakia David Lee presented the money to Slovakian officials during a ceremony on Tuesday. Receiving the donation was the Mayor of Bratislava’s Stare Mesto Zuzana Aufrichtova.
At the ceremony, Aufrichtova said over 2,000 refugees from Ukraine arrive in Slovakia each day. Many of them look for work in Bratislava. She said Taiwan’s donation will be a big help to the refugees. Aufrichtova said that Taiwan also donated much-needed face masks to Slovakia in 2020. She called on the international community to support Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly.
Lee said Taiwan is glad to help Slovakia in handling the refugee crisis.
