The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Taiwan is on the rise. As the central Government gets ready to roll out a home quarantine plan for mild COVID-19 cases, Taipei City has gone ahead and launched its own program.
Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center says that it will establish a system for mild COVID-19 cases to quarantine at home. However, Taipei City took the lead and launched its own home quarantine program on Wednesday.
Taipei City established a home quarantine assistance center, which offers help to COVID patients quarantined at home. But what exactly does the center do? Well, some citizens don’t seem too sure.
This woman has no idea what the plan entails. Another one warns that some elderly don’t understand the internet well enough to take advantage of the system.
Seniors aren’t the only ones who are confused. Some young people are struggling to understand how the home quarantine system works.
This man says he doesn’t know exactly what assistance the government will provide.
Taipei City’s assistance office hands out care packages to COVID cases isolating at home.
Patients will receive dried foods, face masks, garbage bags, rapid tests, thermometers, contact information to the center, and medical instructions.
The assistance office also provides a range of services, including pet care, psychological counseling, and garbage disposal. The office can also help buy and deliver necessities.
With COVID infection numbers rising quickly, health officials have been slow to follow up with people who need to be quarantined.
Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says the government has been advising preparedness for a long time. He is urging people who test positive for COVID, and their families, to proactively take appropriate measures even before they receive a quarantine notice.
The government is scrambling to respond to this latest outbreak, but it is clear that some details and procedures still need polish.
