Taiwan reported 2,969 new local cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
More than a third of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei City, with 1,000 people there testing positive. Another 663 tested positive in Taipei, followed by 414 people in Taoyuan.

Out of the 2,969 people confirmed with COVID on Thursday, six have moderate symptoms. The youngest is a woman in her 50s with a history of mental illness. She has not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the eldest person with moderate symptoms is a woman in her 90s with a history of heart disease. She also has not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Taiwan also recorded 89 imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
There were no deaths reported.
