COVID-19 (04/23): Taiwan reports 4,126 local, 78 imported cases

Taiwan reported 4,126 new local cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. The single-day infection number broke the 4,000 mark for the first time.

Most of the cases were reported either with mild symptoms or no symptoms at all. However, 10 patients show moderate symptoms, while one patient aged above 60 developed severe symptoms.

Out of the 10 persons with moderate infections, six are unvaccinated with the other four having received three doses of COVID vaccine. The patient with severe symptoms also had three doses of vaccine.

Around a quarter of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 1,563 people there testing positive, followed by Taipei with 945, Taoyuan with 527, and Keelung with 219.

Taiwan also recorded 78 imported cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. Authorities reported that 58 of them tested positive upon arrival in Taiwan.

There were no deaths reported, with fatalities in the country due to COVID remaining at 856.
