COVID-19 (04/24): Taiwan reports 5,092 local, 80 imported cases
Case numbers for Sunday April 24, 2022

Taiwan reported 5,092 new local cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. The single-day infection number broke the 5,000 mark for the first time. There were also 80 imported cases reported and no deaths.

Most of the cases, 99.6%, reported this year have only mild symptoms or no symptoms at all. Of the 26,374 cases this year, 88 have moderate symptoms and eight have severe symptoms.

In Taiwan, 84.5% have had one COVID vaccine dose, 79.8% had a second dose, 58% had a third dose.

When questioned about the potential outbreak, health minister Chen Shih-chung says that Taiwan could have at the most 3.5 million to 5 million cases of COVID and the government is preparing relevant drugs and supplies for treatment.   

Chen also reminded the elderly to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
