Penghu kicked off its 20th International Fireworks Festival on Monday night. It is the beginning of a festival that will host 24 shows through June 30.
The opening ceremony celebrated the 20th anniversary of the festival with a light show with 700 drones, a 15-minute fireworks show and performances by popular singers and bands.
Fireworks shows can be seen every Monday and Thursday night at the Penghu Guanyin temple.
There are also special shows in other locations. On May 21, there will be a fireworks show celebrating the 100th anniversary of the National Penghu Marine and Fishery Vocational School. On May 28, there will be a show on Cimei Island; on June 11, there will be a show on Wangan Island, and on June 25, there will be one on Jibei Island.
