The Slovakian parliament’s foreign affairs and health committees have passed resolutions supporting Taiwan’s participation in this year’s World Health Assembly (WHA). The WHA is the World Health Organization's (WHO) decision-making body.
The resolutions recognized Taiwan’s achievements in pandemic prevention and used that as a basis to support Taiwan’s entry into the 75th WHA. This year’s WHA is scheduled for May 22.
Taiwan’s foreign ministry thanked Slovakia’s parliament for its support. It says that Slovakia’s parliament also voiced support for Taiwan’s inclusion in the WHA last year. However, this latest resolution marks the first time Slovakia’s parliamentary health committee made such a decision.
Taiwan’s foreign ministry says that Taiwan and Slovakia are like-minded partners, which cooperate on various issues. It says that Slovakia’s most recent show of support proves that ties between the two countries are growing closer.
