Taiwan reported 11,353 new local cases of COVID-19 and two deaths on Thursday. It’s the first time Taiwan has recorded over 10,000 cases in one day.
Over a third of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 4,552 people there testing positive. Another 2,424 people have the disease in Taipei, along with 1,481 people in Taoyuan.

Out of the 11,353 people confirmed with COVID on Thursday, 23 have moderate symptoms and four have severe symptoms. Three of the severe cases are men in their 80s, all of whom have chronic medical issues.
Taiwan also reported two deaths related to COVID-19 on Thursday. One was a man in his 70s with a history of cancer, diabetes, and other chronic medical issues. The other was a woman in her 60s with a history of diabetes. Neither person had been vaccinated.
Taiwan also recorded 164 imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
