Taiwan reported 23,102 new local cases and 37 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
Five more people have died from COVID-19. All of them were over the age of 70 with pre-existing health conditions. All five people were unvaccinated.
Over a third of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 8,278 people there testing positive. Another 4,806 people have the disease in Taipei, along with 3,604 more in Taoyuan.

Out of the 23,102 people confirmed with COVID on Tuesday, 18 have moderate symptoms and seven have severe symptoms. The youngest person with severe symptoms is a woman in her 40s with a history of diabetes and chronic respiratory issues. She has had two doses of a COVID vaccine.
Meanwhile, the oldest person with severe symptoms is a woman in her 70s with a history of high blood pressure. She has had three doses of a COVID vaccine.
