Taiwan reported 30,035 new local cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. Five more people have died.
More than a third of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 10,122 people there testing positive. Another 6,422 people in Taipei have the disease, along with 4,872 in Taoyuan.

Five more people died of COVID-19 on Thursday. The eldest was a woman in her 80s with a history of nervous system disease. She had not been vaccinated against COVID.
The youngest person was a man in his 20s with a history of nervous system disease. He had not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Out of the 30,035 people confirmed with COVID on Thursday, 67 have moderate symptoms and six have severe symptoms.
Taiwan also recorded 71 imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
