Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary this month.
The grand hall in Taipei Xinyi District commemorates Sun Yat-sen, the founder of the Republic of China.
To mark the hall’s golden anniversary, officials have planned a variety of ceremonies, exhibitions and activities throughout the month of May, starting this Thursday.
One of the exhibitions centers on the history of the hall. It will showcase historical objects from the hall’s collection and works by renowned artists like Chang Dai-chien and Huang Chun-pi.
To complement the exhibit, the hall has developed an app that lets people interact with the hall’s surroundings in augmented reality.
Visitors will also be able to view a work of calligraphy by Sun Yat-sen himself. The hall’s curators are putting Sun’s ink painting of the Confucian phrase “the whole world as one community” on public display for the first time.
