COVID-19 (05/06): Taiwan reports 36,168 local cases, 10 deaths
COVID case numbers for May 6, 2022

Taiwan reported 36,168 new local cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Ten more people have died.

A third of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 12,066 people there testing positive. Another 7,716 people have the disease in Taipei, along with 6,271 in Taoyuan.

The number of cases in other cities and counties is as follows:

Ten more people have died from COVID. The eldest was a woman in her 90s with a history of heart problems, diabetes and kidney disease. She had received two doses of a COVID vaccine.

The youngest was a man in his 30s who had kidney stones. He had not been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Out of the 36,168 people confirmed with COVID on Friday, 76 have moderate symptoms and 11 have severe symptoms. 

Taiwan also recorded 45 imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
