Taiwan reported 57,188 new local and 28 imported cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. There were also eight deaths reported.
Officials said that pregnant women are more likely to have moderate to serious cases of COVID-19. Officials are researching which types of treatment are safest for pregnant women.
Taiwan’s COVID-19 vaccination rate is now over 85% who have taken one dose, over 84% have taken two doses, and over 62% have had booster shots.
Of the eight deaths recorded, all of them were over 60 years old. Six of them had pre-existing conditions. Five had not received any COVID vaccines, two had received two doses and one had received only one vaccine dose.
