Taiwan reported 65,385 new local cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. Seventeen more people have died.
More than a third of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 23,788 people there testing positive. Another 10,751 people have the virus in Taipei, along with 10,039 in Taoyuan.

Seventeen more people have died of COVID-19. All of them were over the age of 60, and all but two had a history of long-term illness. Six had not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Out of the 65,385 people confirmed with COVID on Thursday, 79 have moderate or severe symptoms.
Taiwan also recorded 61 imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
